It has been over 4.5 years since I last went trail

It has been over 4.5 years since I last went trail running, and it felt glorious! When I stopped running trails, I never realized how hard it would be to get back into it—especially with a hypermobility disorder. My knees are weaker now, and I have to be more careful so I don’t fall. Every run is a step toward getting stronger, and I’m sure, with time, it will become second nature again. The goal is to get back to running ultras again. 🏃‍♀️

While Pearson’s Falls and Glen is known for its beautiful main waterfall, I’ve always found this smaller cascade tucked along the trail to be especially magical.
I captured this photo a few years ago, and recently revisited the image while going through my photo archives.
It’s been closed from damage caused by Hurricane Helene, so it will be great when they re-open it this summer (possibly toward the end of June). It’s my understanding reservations will be required - Monday thru Friday only, and with timed entry slots to accommodate nearby road repairs.

Lee Falls has always been one of my favorite water

Lee Falls has always been one of my favorite waterfalls in the Southern Appalachians. This photo was taken several years ago on a day when it was absolutely pouring rain. Reaching this spot meant carefully scrambling across wet, slippery rocks, and trying to balance my camera and tripod without slipping. I was thankful to have friends there to lend a hand.
Recently, I revisited some older images and decided to give this one a fresh edit with a slightly different composition. It’s always fun to look back and see familiar places through a new perspective.
